Maruti Suzuki has setup an aggressive plan to reach two million annual car sales by the year 2020.
Maruti Suzuki has setup an aggressive plan to reach two million annual car sales by the year 2020. A plan without an action is disastrous and understanding the same fact, company has lined up 15 new models over next four years. Launching these many new products is like revamping the complete existing product portfolio. While the recent launches were focused more on building premium image of the brand, the coming launches would again be focused on their bread and butter segment. The recent spy image suggests that Maruti is working on new entry level hatchback, which will sit beside or will replace current Alto twins.
Suzuki Alto Lapin has reto looks but packs in many modern features inside it.
The Team MotorOctanehas sourced one image showing a car which is similar to Suzuki Alto Lapin – which is available in Japan as Kei car, and there is quite a reason to believe this random image. Recently, Maruti Suzuki top officials have said that they are working on another entry level hatchback to strengthen their customer base and the car will carry evolutionary design. Going further the report says that this car has been patented in India already. Suzuki Alto Lapin has many design cues from iconic cars merged well with modern design elements. Some of you might be finding it closely resembling with British Leyland Mini or to be precise Mr. Bean’s car.
Alto Lapin has typical familiar Suzuki design, hint of which we have seen on Suzuki Ignis.
Suzuki Alto Lapin is categorized as Kei car or micro car – in general terms. In its homeland, it is powered by 658 cc petrol mill which produces 52 PS. Even though it is an entry level car, it comes equipped with all bells and whistles like all wheel drive, CVT box, projector headlamps, automatic climate control etc. If it comes down to India, expect nothing except the basic features. It could bring in the 658 cc turbocharged petrol engine to our soil though. In a bid to counter the growing demand for Renault Kwid and to prepare to tackle impending new launches in the segment, Maruti Suzuki has to bring in a fresh new product which offers something more than being just another ‘entry level car’. Renault’s approach of offering something different in boring ‘built to cost’ car segment worked well, which might have inspired the market leader to explore the retro design bin.
