Honda Cars reports 2% annual growth in FY 2015-16

Honda Cars India has recorded growth for the 4th consecutive year.

Honda City continues to be the highest selling car for the Japanese automaker

The financial year closed and the performance figures for all companies have started trickling in. Honda Carsreports 2% annual growth in FY 2015-16 with 192,059 units sold during FY 2015 – 16 as compared to 189,062 units during FY 2014 – 15.

The workhorses for Honda have been the City sedan and the compact sedan, Amaze. These two cars have had a lion’s share in the sales of Honda-branded cars this year. Honda Cityhas been a leader in its segment with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz settling in second place nicely.

Commenting on company’s sales performance, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “Year 2015-16 was an eventful and rewarding year for HCIL. We continued our growth journey in the market making this year as 4 thconsecutive year of annual sales growth. The new fiscal year holds tremendous opportunity for our further growth as we will enhance our product line-up with the launch of new models and expand our dealer network. We are excited about the upcoming launch of Honda BR-V which will mark our entry into a new product segment.”

Honda Jazz has been quite a revelation after the relaunch

Honda Jazzhas been doing quite well after its relaunch which can be seen through the March 2016 numbers.

Model wise sales break-up for March 2016: Brio 2158 Jazz 3683 Amaze 5223 City 5662 Mobilio 610 CR-V 94 Domestic Total 17430 Exports 193 Grand Total 17623

The export numbers stood at only 193 for the March while HCIL exported a total volume of 5,740 units during FY 15-16.

Honda recently launched the automatic transmission version of the Amazewhich could bring in some more numbers.
