2017 Range Rover Sport SVR To Get More Power, Spied Testing

The 2017 Range Rover Sport SVR has been spied testing and it reportedly gets more power.

Although the SUV was almost completely camouflaged, Exterior changes to the car are minimal but the test mule does have larger air intake vents, which suggests that a bigger engine is residing under the bonnet. The new engine could be the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine from the Jaguar F-Type SVR. Power could go up by around 25 bhp to 567 bhp. The 0-100 kmph acceleration time could increase to 4.5 seconds, which is around the same as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The Cayenne Turbo has lesser power but weighs less.

The new car could come out sometime early next year, along with the entire facelifted Range Rover Sport range. The next generation of the Porsche Cayenne will come out only in 2018.

Land Rover showcased the current Range Rover Sport SVR at the Auto Expo held last month in Delhi. It comes equipped with ambient lighting, SVR sports seats which are power adjustable and heated, a TFT virtual instrument panel and an 8-inch touch screen system that can be used to control the Bluetooth and the audio system.

It is powered by a 5.0 litre V8 supercharged petrol engine producing 503 bhp and 680 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels. The SUV accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds and it goes on to a top speed of 260 kmph. The SUV returns 7.81 kms to a litre of fuel.

The performance SUV comes with Four Corner Air Suspension (FCAS), torque vectoring, adaptive dynamic, an active sports exhaust system, Hill Decent Control (HDC), a transfer box, Terrain Response 2, Gradient Acceleration Control (GAC) and Gradient Release Control (GRC).

The Range Rover Sport has been priced at INR 2.04 crores (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and it competes with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG.
