Mercedes-Benz has been mostly in the news for the next generation E-Class but this video has revealed that the company is also planning for a facelift for the GLA SUV. The video on YouTubeshows the car waiting a signal with only the headlights and the taillights bearing the tapes.
Mercedes-Benz’s smallest SUV, the GLAwill be soon receiving an update. The car had its headlights and taillights under minimal camouflage pointing out to a very minor changes to the exteriors. The car could possibly get new LED headlights and new design taillights along with slightly modified bumpers. New design alloy wheels can be seen too but this is a prototype and it cannot be said as to if the same set would make it to the production car. The interiors could see an upgraded 8-inch infotainment system, now compatible with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. The insides could also see more use of chrome when launched in the Indian market.
The facelifted Mercedes-Benz A-Classreceived an updated engine lineup which included a new 1.6-litre petrol producing about 102BHP. This engine though is not expected to land up in the GLA which will continue with the available engine options. In India, the car will get the same 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel and be mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. The range topping AMG will also use the same engine, which is a 2.0-litre unit producing a gigantic 381BHP which is a 21BHP gain over the current car and 475Nm of torque. This variant will get the AMG Speedshift dual clutch gearbox driving all four wheels and boasts of a 0-100Km/hr time of just 4.4 seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA was launched around 2 years ago in the international market and since then has proved to be quite an important model for the German luxury car manufacturer. The car competes with the BMW X1 and Audi Q3in the Indian market. The dates of the launch of this model are not confirmed but we expect it to make it to the Indian shores soon after its international launch.
