Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd is planning to ramp up its distribution network in India and have a total 9 products in its line-up.
“By the end of this month we will be adding three more, taking the total dealerships to 11. By 2012 we will have 55 dealers to cover 85 percent of the Indian car market. That is a conservative number as we may increase the numbers later,” Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director and CEO, told IANS in an interview.
“It is not the number of dealers that is important. What is important is to have right number of dealers at right places so that each dealer is able to achieve operational success,” he added.
To realize this expansion plan, Nissan has partnered with Hover Automotive India(HAI). HAI is a company formed by a group of global entrepreneurs. Together with Nissan, it aims to innovate and achieve leadership in the India automobile market. Its objective is to make Nissan one of the prominent brands in India. HAI is responsible for marketing, sales, after-sales, dealer development and a host of other activities.
Nissan and HAI are looking for several entrepreneurs to set up dealerships across India and partner with them in facilitating Nissan and HAI’s vision for the India market.
