The V-Cross is the second generation of the company’s D-Max pick-up trucks. It is currently on sale in Europe, Australia, Thailand and South America. It is available in various 4X4 and 4X2 configurations, with a combination of Crew Cab or Single Cab, High Ride or Normal Ride and Flat deck or arch-deck load body styles. You can also have it as a Cab-chassis.
The design of the pick-up gives it good off-road characteristics. It has a higher ground clearance, wider track and a longer wheelbase. The vehicle comes equipped with projector headlamps, automatic AC with fine-particle pollen filter, 6-way adjustable driver seat, electrically foldable and adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, steering mounted audio controls and a 7-inch touchscreen audio system with USB, DVD, AUX, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.
The D-Max V-Cross is powered by a CRDi diesel engine producing 134 bhp and 320 Nm of torque between 1,800 to 2,800 rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission and power is sent to all four wheels. Handling is improved thanks to the iGRIP features (Isuzu Gravity Response Intelligent Platform), which ensures greater stability. The pick-up truck rides on 16-inch alloy wheels.
The safety features include ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, crumple zones and dual front airbags. Stopping power is provided by ventilated front disc brakes.
The 4×4 heavy duty utility vehicle features the new iGRIP system that allows it to tackle higher speeds with greater stability.
For private buyers, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will cost approximately INR 15 lakhs (ex-showroom, Chennai) while the vehicles for commercial use will start around INR 8.5 to 9.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Chennai). Exact prices will be announced at a later stage. The car will be manufactured at Isuzu’s new manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. It will be launched in the second half of the year.
