Jaguar F-Type SVR is a creation of Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations division which previously focused on the Range Rover. The car sounds mental and especially after rushing through the tunnel at breathtaking speeds, it even sounds scary.
Jaguar F-Type SVR uses the same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 unit used on the stock car but produces 25 bhp more, making it a very impressive 567bhp, along with 700Nm of torque. It uses the acclaimed 8-speed ZF transmission and comes with an all wheel drive option alone. The speeds it is capable o are pretty nuts with 0-100 kmph coming up in just 3.5 seconds which is 0.4 seconds quicker than the ‘regular’ version.
It the convertible it crosses the 310 mph barrier and goes beyond 320 kmph in the coupe form. The company chose the same tunnel which was used for the unveiling of the Range Rover Sport a few years back. Jaguar illuminated the 422 metres tunnel with special lights to give it a more dramatic effect but undoubtedly, the star of the show is the exhaust noise. It is the kind of noise that could frighten the pants of someone who isn’t aware of the capabilities of the F-Type. The tunnel amplifies the terrifying noise perfectly giving the adrenaline rush required.
The company has tweaked the exhaust system to make is 16 kgs lighter than the on F-Type R and a “dramatic, purposeful, harder-edge exhaust note”. Other additions and updates include harder suspension, revised steering, a bespoke aerodynamic diffuser and front splitter, and forged alloy wheels.
The cost: £110,000 in coupe form, the convertible is even more expensive, incidentally, at £115,485. For comparison the F-Type R costs £90,000.
Only wish I could have driven it through the tunnel, especially after having the experience of driving the F-Type R. A chance to live that day once again. Perhaps, one day!!
