2010 VW Tiguan
The Honda CR-V for long has been dominant in the Indian soft roader segment. Now, Volkswagen India might take on the CR-V with it’s own off roader called the Tiguan. The Tiguan, like the CR-V will feature a 2 liter turbo petrol engine that will output 200Bhp and 280 NM of torque. For now, VW has not debuted a diesel engine in the 2010 Tiguan. So, we might not get a diesel power plant in India. However, Volkswagen could shoehorn a 140Bhp diesel engine that the VW Passat comes with.

That said, the chances of that powerplant making it to India are bleak as 140Bhp will make the Tiguan look underpowered amongst it’s more powerful counterparts. 4 Wheel Drive is standard and the Tiguan will feature both an automatic and a manual transmission, both 6 speed units. We expect the price to closely match or undercut the CR-V at around 25 Lakh Indian Rupees. Watch out for the Tiguan at the VW stall in the upcoming 2010 Indian Auto Expo. Meanwhile, it looks like Honda have already taken VW seriously and are readying a facelifted CR-V to take on the Tiguan. We’ll bring the facelifted CR-V to you shortly. Watch this space.
