Customizing Royal Enfields has always been a thing of pleasure not to say sheer dedication and hard work. We see loads of customized Classic 500s on our roads every now and then if spotted correctly. In fact at the recently held 2016 India Bike Week we saw a couple of custom made bikes with the base bike being a Royal Enfield. Above all these guys lies Paul Carberry, owner of Carberry Enfield. He has been responsible for producing 1000cc V-Twin motorcycles by combining two Royal Enfield 500cc single cylinder units. According to a report by Overdrive, Carberry Enfield has collaborated with an Indian investor to shift its base to India.

Paul Carberry has confirmed that the motorcycles will be locally manufactured and given the lower costs associated Carberry Enfields are expected to cost half as much as they costed back in Australia. But currently they are focusing on developing the 1000cc V-Twin and setting up the operations in India rather than concentrating on the pricing. According to the sources the first V-Twin Royal Enfield is still about six to eight months away.

Royal Enfield was surprisingly one of the first customers of the Carberry Enfields. There were rumours that Royal Enfield might buy out Carberry Enfield but this did not happen. The major reason for it being that the V-Twin motor would be simply too big to fit into the UCE platform all Royal Enfields are currently based on. Service is another area where Carberry Enfield is working on various possibilities. The parts availability in India would be much easier compared to that in Australia as 98 percent of all Royal Enfield motorcycles are sold in India.
