The 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible will launch in India on the 16th of March in Goa. The car was launched globally last year and BMW Group India has been quick to update the Mini lineup in India.
The 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible is all set to hit Indian shores (pun intended) on the 16th of March in Goa. BMW Group India had launched the updated Mini range in India last year in November which was almost two years in to the global unveil for that model. But the company knows the importance of the convertible variant and has announced its launch in the country just a few months after its global unveil. The 2016 Mini Convertible carries the same design DNA forward with its retro-classic looks. The headlights have been tweaked with a round LED DRL pattern, while there is a signature chrome grille and classic chrome-lined taillights.

The 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible has slightly grown in size at 3,821mm in length, 1,727mm in width and 1,415mm in height which is 98mm, 44mm and 1mm more than its predecessor respectively. The Convertible gains a wider track by 42mm upfront and 34mm at the rear and has a wheelbase lengthened by 28mm. The chassis has been strengthened heavily and has added a sizeable 120Kgs to the kerb weight. The textile soft top can be opened or closed within 18 seconds at speeds below 30Km/hr and has a sliding feature which the company claims to be much quieter in operation.

The iconic Mini Convertible could be launched with a wide range of engine options – a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol with 134BHP (Cooper), a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol with 189BHP (Cooper S), 1.5-litre 3-cylinder diesel with 116BHP (Cooper D)and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel with 170BHP (Cooper SD). All engines will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 2016 Mini Convertible will be priced in the range of Rs. 35 lakhs before taxes.
