The first day of the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo will witness the launch of the Jeep brand in India. A pre-launch website for Jeep in India was already unveiled offering the first glimpse to customers and fans of its bestselling models. The 70 year old brand is known for its wide range of robust as well as luxurious SUVs like the Cherokee, Compass, Grand Cherokee, Patriot, Renegade, Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited globally. But the company will initially launch three SUVs in India namely the Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee SRT and the Wrangler Unlimited. SRT is the performance division of Jeep and is responsible for quite a few fast Jeeps around the world.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel and 3.6-litre V6 petrol motor mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission. It will get a UConnect infotainment system on the insides that supports Apple Car Play. It gets the Selec-Terrain 4-wheel drive system as standard and a Quadra-Lift air suspension too. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited on the other hand comes only with a 3.6-litre V6 petrol, but expect a smaller diesel engine on offer in India. The Wrangler Unlimited is a thoroughbred off-roader with features like Electronic Front Sway Bar Disconnect, Front and Rear Stabilizer Bar, Fuel Tank Skid Plate, Transfer Case Skid Plate, Two Front Tow Hooks and One Rear Tow Hook.

The Jeep Cherokee SRT is the most powerful Jeep that will be on offer in India. It is powered by a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine that develops 475BHP and massive 64.2Kgm of torque. Again mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, this vehicle is capable of hitting 100Km/hr in less than 5 seconds! Stay tuned to the ICB network for launch details of Jeep in India.
