The upcoming Zica compact hatchback from Tata was showcased at this year’s Delhi Auto Expo. Tata’s all new compact hatchback will be launching under a new name sometime later this year.
The 2016 Tata Zica Hatchback will compete in the compact hatchback segment of the Indian car market.
The upcoming Tata hatch will be powered by both petrol and diesel engines. Petrol variants will be driven by a 1.2 l naturally aspirated three cylinder engine that churns out 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque while diesel variants will house a three cylinder variation of the manufacturer’s 1.0 l diesel mill that puts out 70 PS and a peak torque of 140 Nm. Both petrol and diesel models will be offered with a 5 speed manual gearbox. Although the Zica hatch will be offered with an AMT transmission, Tata will not be offering an automatic variant at launch.

Design-wise, the Zica brings numerous signature Tata elements such as the gloss black hexagonal radiator grille and large headlights. Other notable characteristics include five spoke alloy wheels, chrome lined fog lamp enclosures, dual tone wing mirrors and ORVM mounted turn indicators. The interiors too are significantly more upmarket than any of Tata’s previous budget endeavors with the Zica featuring a high end 8 speaker infotainment system, steering mounted controls, front and rear power windows and a digital display between the speedometer and tachometer feeding trip and vehicle data to the driver.
The interiors of the upcoming 2016 Tata Zica Hatchback feature a well upholstered and well equipped cabin.
Although the new Zica hatchback was to be launched very soon, Tata recently announced its decision to rename its new car in the wake of the Zika virus outbreak. As a result, the launch date for the Tata Zica hatchback may be slightly delayed.
