2016 Bentley Mulsanne Receives A Facelift

Bentley’s flagship car, the Mulsanne, has received a facelift.

Bentley’s flagship car, the Mulsanne, has received a facelift. The luxury car is available in three variants: the Mulsanne, Mulsanne Speed and the Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase and it takes 400 hours to hand-build the car.

The front of the Mulsanne has been redesigned. It gets new LED headlights, new daytime running lights that looks similar to the Bentayga SUV and a new front bumper. At the rear, it gets new tail lights and a new rear bumper. On the inside, the flagship luxury car gets new seats, armrests and door trims. The interior is finished in soft-touch leather and takes more than 150 hours to create. Customers have 24 hide colours to choose from and they can also choose between single-tone or dual-tone finish. The seats can be chosen in two new styles: Fluted or Quilted. A choice of 13 different veneers are available for the cabin along with highly-polished stainless steel.

The luxury car gets an all-new touch-screen system infotainment system with additional controls and a state-of-the-art rear seat entertainment. The main display is an 8-inch touchscreen with a 60 GB hard drive. The rear seat entertainment is a 10.2-inch android device with 4G, Wifi and Bluetooth and comes with 32 GB storage and a front-facing camera. The Mulsanne can be had with the world’s most powerful automotive audio system. The system features 20 channels, 20 speakers and a 2,200-watt amplifier with Super Tweeters.

The safety features include a Blind Spot Warning system, which works between 10 kmph and 250 kmph and Advanced Automatic Stability Control (ASC) which includes collision mitigation features.

Powering the new Mulsanne is a 6.75-litre twin turbo V8 engine producing 505 bhp and 1,020 Nm of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The car accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 5.2 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 296 kmph. It returns 6.85 kms to a litre of fuel.

The vehicle comes with Drive Dynamics Control System with four modes – Bentley, Sport, Comfort and Custom. It gets air suspension with Continuous Damping Control (CDC). The Mulsanne rides on 20-inch wheels with 21-inch wheels available as an option.

2016 Bentley Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase

With the Extended Wheelbase version, Bentley has increased the wheelbase by 250 mm. It has now gone up to 3,516 mm from 3,266 mm. This has liberated more space on the inside for more luxuries for rear seat passengers. The rear passengers get electronic leg rests and a console separating the two seats. For passengers who wish to work on the move, the rear seats come with folding tables. You also get a privacy curtain and a larger sunroof.

On the outside, the Mulsanne EWB is available with a dual-tone paint scheme and new 21-inch wheels.

2016 Bentley Mulsanne Speed

The new Mulsanne Speed is for those who are looking for more power and speed. Powering the car is the same 6.75-litre twin turbo V8 engine producing 530 bhp and 1,100 Nm of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The car accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 305 kmph. The car comes with a more focussed Sports suspension which improves handling.

On the outside, it gets dark tints on certain places like the lamps, new exhausts and new 21-inch Exclusive Speed design alloy wheels. On the inside, it comes with Mulliner Driving Specification interior as standard, which comes with diamond quilted seats, knurled gear lever, sporty drilled alloy pedals and optional carbon fibre inserts.
