Honda has launched an updated version of the Mobilio MPV in Indonesia. The vehicle gets very little cosmetic changes on the outside. The changes include a little bit more chrome in places like the fog lamp surround and new design alloy wheels. On the inside, however, the new Mobilio gets a completely new dashboard and new features. There are no mechanical changes as well.
The Brio derived dashboard of the car has been replaced by a fresher unit from the BR-V SUV. The air vents are now rectangular and the centre console is dominated by a large touchscreen. The knobs have been replaced with sleeker buttons. The MPV now comes with automatic climate control and a new reverse parking camera. The touchscreen infotainment system also acts as a display for the parking camera. The instrument cluster is also new. The steering wheel has been unchanged and it is the same one that is found in the Brio. The new centre console also frees up more space which can be used for storage.
The Mobilio is available with a petrol engine and a diesel engine. The petrol is a 1.5 litre, four-cylinder i-VTEC engine producing 117 bhp at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and power is sent to the front wheels. The MPV returns 17.3 kms to a litre of fuel. The diesel is a 1.5 litre, four-cylinder i-DTEC engine producing 99 bhp at 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and power is sent to the front wheels. The MPV returns 24.2 kms to a litre of fuel. The 7-seater rides on 15-inch wheels.
The Honda Mobilio starts at INR 6.79 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and goes up to INR 11.78 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It competes with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Renault Lodgy and the Chevrolet Enjoy. The updated Mobilio is expected to be launched in later this year.
