The Indian Auto Expo 2016, slated to be held in February 2016 could mark the debut of global brands like Aston Martin, Maserati and Bentley. According to reports in the industry circles, the luxury car makers are looking forward to a spot in the mega event which is conducted bi-annually in the capital of India. With the sales figures of the luxury segment growing every year, the move can be considered as a part of possible future expansion plans of the firms. The sports luxury segment has also been reporting improved sales every year however, the numbers aren’t high as of now.
The 13th Indian Auto Expo might have Bentley, Maserati and Aston Martin as the newcomers.
The Fiat group owned Italian luxury car maker Maserati currently has no dealer in India and a debut next year could help the firm to improve its presence in the country, at least could serve as a starter. Later, it might always plan to get its share in the evolving luxury car market of India. Things should not be very difficult for Maserati as its parent firm, Fiat already has its presence across the nation.
Reports have suggested that executives from Fiat were in India to hone in on potential dealers
Aston Martin and Bentley are relatively better equipped as far as presence in the Indian market is concerned. Both of them have their separate dealerships in Delhi and Mumbai. However, the major numbers are clocked by the 3 big German players, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Bentley currently has 2 dealers in India.
The Auto Expo is organized by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), CII and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA). Implementing learnings from the previous events, the 2016 edition of the expo will be held in two separate venues (similar to the 2014 event).
Aston Martin will like to make its mark in the luxury and sports luxury segments of the Indian automotive market.
The motor show will be conducted at the India Expo Mart at Greater Noida and the component show will be held in Pragati Maidan. Most probably, like last year, the first two days will be exclusively reserved for media and from 5th till 9th, the expo will be open for the public. The previous event accounted for 70 unveilings, of which 26 were global models; the number is expected to be surpassed this year.
