Jeep recently confirmed that they will be launching a Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee SUV, called the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
that they will be launching a Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee SUV, called the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It was seen testing at the SRT Building in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be powered by the same engine that powers the Dodge Charger Hellcat and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. It is a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine producing 707 bhp and 881 Nm of torque. The transmission options available are a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Challenger accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds and it goes on to an electronically limited top speed of 320 kmph. The Charger accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 3.5 seconds and it goes on to an electronically limited top speed of 328 kmph. The power and torque figures for the SUV will be the same but performance could be a little less considering the additional weight. An automatic transmission is most likely to be offered and power will be sent to all four wheels.
The SUV is expected to lose some of its off-road capabilities with the Hellcat-powered vehicle, but once it comes out, it will be the most powerful and one of the fastest SUVs on the planet.
The most powerful variant of the Jeep Grand Cherokee currently available is the Grand Cherokee SRT. It was showcased at the Auto Expoin Delhi last month. It is powered by a 6.4 litre Hemi V8 engine producing 475 bhp. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels. The performance SUV accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 258 kmph. It comes with launch control, different modes including Sport and Track, a lowered ride height and Brembo high-performance brake discs.
