Abarth 124 Spider Officially Revealed

After unveiling the Fiat 124 Spider, the Italian companyhas showed us its performance variant, called the Abarth 124 Spider.

Design changes over the regular car includes a slightly redesigned front bumper, a new rear bumper, a small rear spoiler, a few air vents and new alloy wheels. The car also gets a dual tone paint scheme. It looks much more sporty and aggressive now. The car is available in White, Grey, Blue, Red and Black. On the inside, it gets leather seats, aluminium pedals, small-diameter steering wheel and a new instrument panel with a centrally mounted large rev counter with a red background.

The car comes with manual climate control system, stereo with four speakers, MP3 player and USB port, cruise control, adjustable and electrically-folded door mirrors as standard. Optionally, you can also get an infotainment system with a 7-inch colour display, satellite navigation system, DAB digital tuner, two USB ports, AUX input and Bluetooth connectivity. A 9-speaker Bose premium sound system is also available.

Powering the small sports car is a four cylinder, 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo engine producing 170 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic Sequenziale Sportivo transmission and power is sent to the rear wheels. The car accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 6.8 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 230 kmph. The car weighs 1,060 kgs.

To improve the handling of the vehicle, the Abarth 124 Spider gets a perfect 50-50 weight distribution, a mechanical limited-slip differential, Abarth-tuned dampers by Bilstein and stiffened anti-roll bars. Stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes. The vehicle comes with a Record Monza exhaust system as standard.

The safety features include ABS, EBD, ERM and ESC. Along with these, it also gets a 3-point seat belt with Constant-Force Retractors (CFR) and LED headlights. Optionally, the car can be had with rear parking camera and LED headlights with rain sensor and dusk sensor.

The Abarth124 Spider will go on sale in September and prices will start at 40,000 euros.
