The Range Rover Evoque becomes all the more tempting as local assembly slashes price significantly.
Range Rover Evoque Get’s Locally Assembled
Land Rover’s Evoque needs no introduction. A vehicle whose interior design has inputs from Victoria Beckham is a rage among the world and continues to sell like hot cakes ever since it debuted four years ago. Recently Land Rover gave it a mild faceliftand showcased it at the Geneva Motor Show which is yet to come to Indian shores. Meanwhile the good news is that the Evoque is now locally assembled and the prices have been slashed by nearly INR 20 lakhs depending on the variant.
The Evoque received a facelift at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month.
This is courtesy of local assembly in Jaguar Land Rover’s CKD plant in Pune. The base variant, Pure, now starts at a startling INR 48.73 lakhs while the mid variant, Dynamic costs around INR 52.40 lakhs and the range topping variant, Prestige now costs INR 56.21 lakhs. All of the prices are ex-showroom Mumbai and are pre-octroi rates. All variants come with a 9-speed automatic transmission and also include standard features like front and rear parking sensors with rear view camera, panoramic sunroof and Land Rover’s state-of-the-art Terrain Response System which Land Rover is known for.
The new gearbox is mated to the same 2.2L SD4 diesel engine which produces 190 PS of power @ 3500 RPM and 420 Nm of torque at 2200 RPM. With the jaw dropping looks and a powerful diesel engine under the hood it has just made the customer enormously tempting to buy one. Jaguar Land Rover is showing its commitment to India by launching models and then commence local assembly as demands increase.
Range Rover Evoque, a style quotient now become more accessible
Production at the Pune plant has also tripled since its inauguration in 2011 and this latest development in the facility comes as part of Jaguar Land Rover’s plans to expand its manufacturing footprint and increasing its production capacity outside of the UK. The locally-manufactured Range Rover Evoque is now available for sale with deliveries expected to begin from early April 2015.
Evoque’s surprise price cut post local assembly poses a huge challenge to the rival car makers like Mercedes, BMW and Audi who were not very forthcoming with downward revision when their models enter local production in India.
