Maruti Swift Windsong special edition launched at INR 5.14 lakhs

After being unveiled in November, the Maruti Swift Windsong special edition has been launched in India at INR 5.14 lakhs for the petrol variant and INR 6.1 lahs for diesel variant (ex-showroom Delhi).

There are no mechanical changes that have been made to the Swift on this special edition

Special editions are now par for the course in the Indian market but there seems to be some lack of clarity on just how much it takes to make a limited run version special. Often, a stock model with different body graphics and maybe a new color gets pedaled with a “special” tag on it. Thankfully, the new Maruti Swift Windsong does a little more to earn its title.

Based on the VDI/VXI trims, the slightly gratuitous body graphics of the Swift Windsong special edition is its most noticeable feature. Apparently this version of the hatchback is meant to bait music enthusiasts, as demonstrated by the treble clef and other musical notations inscribed along the side of the car. But what’s a special edition without the racing stripes? Thus the bonnet and roof of the car sport two black lines running along the middle.

The black seats are tastefully embroidered with bright yellow highlights and the front has ambient blue lighting on the floor

Modifications made with the cabin of this Maruti Swift special edition are more substantial and palatable than those on the outside. The black seats are tastefully embroidered with bright yellow highlights. Ambient blue lighting on the floor at the front of the car is a nice touch. Also thrown in the mix are illuminated sill guards, floor mats sporting the Swift badging, a touch-screen display from Sony boasting Siri eyes-free and reverse parking sensors.

There are no mechanical changes that have been made to the Swift on this special edition. The car retains its 1.2 litre K-Series petrol and 1.3 litre DDiS diesel powerplants. Both are mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Pricing of the Swift Windsong will be announced in a couple of days, around which time units will also reach dealerships

The special edition Swift comes just days after the launch of the Tata Boltin a bid to steal the limelight from the new launch.
