The luxurious Mercedes-Benz S-Class is all set to get another variant called the S400.
In India, the S-Class is available with a V6 diesel, a V8 petrol, and an AMG V8 petrol. There is no option available for those who want a smaller and a more economical engine petrol engine.
The S400 will be the entry level petrol variant and will be powered by a turbocharged V6 petrol engine
The Mercedes-Benz S400 is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine producing 329 bhp and 480 Nm of torque. The S400 is also available as a petrol hybrid but it is unclear if it will be launched in the country. The engine will come mated to a 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic gearbox or a 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic gearbox. Power is sent to the rear wheels. Globally it is available with a 7-speed automatic gearbox and the sedan returns 12.65 kms to a litre of fuel.
The S400 will come equipped with all the luxury and safety features that are available in other S-Class sedans
The S400 will come equipped with all the luxuries and safety equipments found on the other S-Class models. It will be launched in the country by the end of this month and will be priced between the S350 CDI V6 diesel and the S500 V8 petrol. The S350 CDI V6 diesel costs INR 1.14 crores (ex-showroom, New Delhi) while the S500 V8 petrol has been priced at INR 1.44 crores (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The S-Class competes against the Audi A8, Jaguar XJ, BMW 7-series and the Maserati Ghibli.
The sedan will be launched in India by the end of this month and will be priced between the S350 diesel and the S500 V8 petrol
