Bentley Flying Spur V8 S Officially Unveiled

The Bentley Flying Spur V8 has been upgraded with a new variant that will sit between the Flying Spur V8 and the Flying Spur W12.

The Bentley Flying Spur V8 has been upgraded with a new variant that will sit between the Flying Spur V8 and the Flying Spur W12. It has been called the Bentley Flying Spur V8 S.

Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, said: “The Flying Spur remains unrivalled in its ability to combine class-leading comfort with remarkable dynamic ability. It’s the perfect choice for the customer who wants ultimate refinement as well as an exhilarating, spirited drive.”

The Flying Spur V8 S gets some styling cues that signal its performance intent. The front grille is finished in black, new design alloy wheels and a Beluga gloss finished rear diffuser. Dark-tint lights (front and rear) and black gloss exterior mirror covers are available as options. On the inside, the changes include Piano-black wood veneers and a three-spoke sports steering wheel as standard. Knurled gear lever, paddle shifters, V8 S headrest stitching and dual-tone seats are also available. A new semi-aniline hide is also available as an option. The car also gets new colour options and a lot of ‘V8 S’ badges.

Powering the new luxury sedan is the same 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 engine that does duty in the entry level variant. It has been tuned up and it now produces 616 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 800 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic with Quickshift and power is sent to all four wheels. The luxury car accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 322 kmph. It returns 6.8 kms to a litre of fuel. The car rides on 20-inch alloy wheels. 21-inch wheels is available as an option.

Revised suspension offers improved handling and body control for the same ride comfort. The Continuous Damping Control (CDC) has been recalibrated so that there is no degradation in the ride comfort. The Electronic Stability Control has also been re-tuned. Extra stopping power is provided by optional carbon ceramic brakes with red or black painted calipers.

The Bentley Flying Spur V8 S will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month and deliveries will begin in summer.
