The E-Tron Quattro concept was shown last year at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show which was an all electric crossover model. This model was later called as the Q6 E-Tron which will be seeing its day of light by 2018. It looks very sleek, sharp and futuristic from any angle. The car will be based on the MLB Evo platform and will be powered by conventional powertrains besides all-electric power. The electric drivetrain will consist of three electric motors placed one on the front axle and two on the rear axle. Between the two axles will sit a high capacity Lithium-ion battery to provide optimum weight distribution and low centre of gravity.

Audi will be sourcing the batteries from LG Chem and Samsung SDI of Korea which will provide the car with a range of upto 310 miles (500 Kms) on a single charge. The Q6 E-Tron will be designed on the basis of the R8 E-Tron electric supercar. The Belgian plant in question is currently responsible for the production of the Audi A1, which will be then shifted to Spain after the arrival of the electric SUV. Audi could also launch the Q8 electric SUV in 2019 which will be a luxurious offering from the company and will take on the Range Rover Sport.

Audi India launched the Q7 SUV in India last month and will be launching the all new A4 sedan this year. The A4 is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. The car could set new benchmarks in India for performance and efficiency as it is based on the MQB platform which makes much lighter than its predecessor.
