The print medium is dying in this age of digital world where everything is going online and it takes a herculean effort to make your product stand out.
Porschehas teamed up with ad agency Cramer-Krasselt to give a unique experience to its audience.
When most people skip ad while consuming content on a digital medium, Porsche has made sure you specifically look for the ad so that you can experience it. Holographic projection is nothing new to us thanks to the Narendra Modi speeches during the poll campaigning in areas where he could not reach physically. Porsche has created and distributed more than 150,000 foldable prism’s of which 50,000 are through Fast Company’s April issue and the rest directly by mail.
The prism’s have to be connected as per the instructions were given and placed on a tablet (the electronic slate that is!!) while playing the video from thenew911.com/hologram. This renders a holographic projection inside the prism giving a glimpse of past and present Porsche 911.
The Porsche 911 comes in various iterations such as 911 Turbo, Turbo S, 911 R. The Porsche 911 develops 520 bhp while the Turbo now develops 540PS and Turbo S another 40 bhp to take it to 580 bhp. The ad agency is planning an encore with the May issue of the magazine where an LED-powered ad will be expected to grab eye balls.
With both its hologram and LED ads, “Porsche is outspent by pretty much all its competition. Porsche seeks to break down the wall between print’s normal passivity and people’s desire to interact,” Ross says, adding new dimension and value to a tried-and-true medium.
In this age where ingenuity is the new standard, this is certainly a striking and develops curiosity. Rather than skipping the ad, makes you build the prism and watch the ad with interest. We definitely think this is cool!!
