Mercedes Benz seems to have lost it in the styling front. We were flabbergasted, to put it mildly when we saw the new E class in Pune. The car just doesn’t look like a Merc, both from the front and the rear. Yes, it is big we know. But, whatever happened to Merc’s exuding an aura of solidity and indestructibility. All this seems absent in the new E class which looks more like a Honda Accord from behind and this stunned us.  Ok, the only saving grace in the show department is the arrow like crouched stance that the E class exhibits when viewed sideways.

Now, coming to the go department, the Mercedes E Class has plenty of pizzaz to keep you very engaged. You have the option of a gasoline or an oil burner, both V6s. The 3.5 liter petrol engine is more powerful than the 3 liter diesel while the diesel dethrones the petrol in the torque stakes. Apart from the motors, your daily drive will be more fun with plenty of gadgetry to assist you on the dynamics as well as the car-tainment front. The cavernous interiors like always are extremely well appointed which will cocoon you in ultimate comfort. You can buy the Mercedes Benz E Classfor about 45-50 lakh rupees depending on the engine options and trim levels. All said and done, in our opinion, the Mercedes E Class just doesn’t look like a Merc when seen in the flesh. And we just don’t like it for this.
