Volkswagen pulled off a fast one on all of us when they launched the Beetle on December 4th this year.
Volkswagen Touareg
on December 4th this year. They shocked the media present at the event by unveiling their big bruiser of an SUV, the Touareg. The Volkswagen Touareg will sell for a little over half a crore, 51.84 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi to be precise. The Volkswagen Touareg will come with a 3.0 liter diesel V6 engine that will deliver 240 horses at a 400rpm. All the horses will meet the terra firma through a 6 speed DSG gearbox. Plenty of Porsche touches here as the Tuoareg shares plenty of components with the Cayenne.
The Touaregs was designed to indulge in effortless off roading. Hence it can ford across half a meter deep rivulets and climb 45 degree rock faces and come down 35 degree declines. Pity that such a great off roader might probably never hit the dirt trails in India where owners buy SUVs to make a statement than to ford streams. Talking of which, creature comforts like the sunroof and the six CD changer amongst many other features will ensure that the fat cats occupying the Touaregs seats are well pampered. We anticipate strong demand for the Touareg as the Indian elite have traditionally loved big diesels. So watch out for the big diesel bruiser in your ORVMs.
