The Geneva Motor Show begins in 10 days time and all major manufacturers across the globe are bringing their hatchback’s, sedan’s, SUV’s and supercars to the motoring mela in one of the most famous cities of Switzerland. We compile a list of 20 production version cars which will make their global debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
Alpina BMW B7: Alpina for over 50 years has been a small manufacturer from Germany who tuned BMW cars making them faster and luxurious than standard BMW models. This time, the folks lay hands on a 7-series sedan to reach speeds of 310kmph on German Autobahn while a 0-100 kmph time of just 3.6 seconds. Not to forget is the fact that it is more luxurious than the ultra-luxurious 2016 BMW 7-series. It is expected to cost $1,30,000.
Aston Martin DB11: The replacement to Aston Martin DB9 will see a Geneva launch. It is expected to carry a 5.2-litre V12 making about 600 bhp. The new car is also expected to come with a 4-litre turbocharged V8 unit from AMG. The Aston Martin DB 11 looks distinctly different than any other Aston and will reach showrooms by the end of the year as a 2017 model.
Audi Q2: It will be the smallest SUV from Audi sitting even below the Q3. It has been teased with teaser images and video already but nobody is really sure if it will be named Q1 or Q3. The Audi Q2 will be based on Volkswagens MQB platform, employing a 3 or 4- cylinder options and standard 6-speed transmission. There is high possibility of Audi bringing in this model to India as early as possible as it continues to battle Mercedes Benz for the Number 1 spot in the Indian luxury car market.
Will it be Audi Q2 or Q1 ?
Audi RS Q3 Performance: The compact crossover segment demands more power and that’s what you get!! An inline 5 turbocharged unit that churns out 367 bhp and 465 Nm of torque. As a result, 100 kmph comes up in just 4.4 seconds from standstill. For comparison, Audi R8 V8 coupe goes zero-to-100 in 4.4 seconds!!! Isn’t that bonkers? The engine is mated to a seven-speed S-Tronic transmission that “has been rigorously tuned for sportiness” and adds the Quattro all-wheel drive system. Realistically, this one has only one competitor, Mercedes Benz GLA45 AMG.
Bentley Flying Spur V8S: The ‘S’ has finally arrived with a twin turbocharged V8 generating 521 horses and a mental 680 Nm of torque. The all wheel drive system pushes this beast beyond 100 kmph in just 4.6 seconds. The ‘S’ has slightly stiffer suspension, rear diffuser and grille are painted black, interiors have a touchscreen remote, and an available Wi-Fi hotspot amongst the largesse of the British carmaker. Customers can as usual, can go bonkers with the choices and options to personalize their cars as per their taste at additional cost.
Bugatti Chiron: The successor to the Veyron will break cover at the Geneva Motor Show, hopefully expecting to become the fastest production car in the world beating the Hennessy Venom GT. Chiron will be powered by an 8.0-litre W16 engine with four turbochargers and a massive 15 radiators to cool down the heat generated by 1500 horses. Chiron would accelerate from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 2.2 seconds will have to have a top speed of 467 kmph according to some reports. The Chiron will cost more than $2.5 million and only 500 examples will be built to maintain that exclusivity.
BMW 740e PHEV: BMW iPerformance brand will be launched at the Motor Show and the first model to wear that badge will be BMW 740e iPerformance. BMW M760Li xDrive : The 2017 BMW M760Li is powered by a humongous 6.6-liter V12 engine with mind blowing figures of 600 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. it reaches speeds of 100 in just 3.9 seconds and sadly, has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. It gets an all-wheel drive system by default, transmitting the enormous power with help of an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission system. It will come with various driving modes to best suit you driving mood and capabilities. It is also equipped with BMW ConnectDrive infotainment system.
Brabus Mercedes G500: G-wagons are a beast in layman’s terms. But a Brabus-tuned G-Wagon is something you would always love.
