For this, M&M have partnered with the American based company Navistar and in the process have developed a mammoth 7.2 liter truck engine producing a mammoth 800nm of brute torque at 1200 to 1400 rpm. The inline six cylinder engine will pump out a class leading 210 hp too and will hae a complete localisation of parts by end of 2010.

This will give Mahindra huge leverage enabling it to use this engine, albeit in various states of tune and capacities in a range of commercial vehicles beginning with light CVs to massive trailer trucks.  Watch out for the truck and the engine too, which in all probability will feature in the M&M stall at the upcoming Auto Expo. Now, we were wondering if a oil burner of such size and monstrous torque would ever make it into the Scorpio range of SUVs, of course at a smaller capacity. With M&M, we might just see that happen.
