The Koenigsegg Agera RS has been sold out, making it the fastest selling supercar in the Swedish company’s history.
The Agera RS made its debut at last year’s Geneva Motor Show in March. The very first customer car was also delivered at that time. Since then, in just 10 months, they have managed to sell all the 25 models of the car. Orders have been made and deposits paid for.
The cars have been sold in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE. Many more markets were left without any allocations as the demand for the hypercar was greater than the supply. Production of the cars are scheduled to begin this year and the last cars will be delivered in 2017.
The company’s founder, Christian von Koenigsegg said, “I am extremely proud of the Agera RS program. The RS is a classic Koenigsegg, with all the core values and features that the Koenigsegg brand stands for. The performance, road feel and responsiveness are truly amazing and the level of technical sophistication is second to none. It is a true ‘pinnacle’ project that has been wholly embraced by our customers and friends.”
The hypercar is based on the Agera and it even comes with a removable roof that can be stored under the front hood of the car. It is powered by a twin turbo 5.0-litre V8 engine producing 1160 bhp at 7,800 rpm and 1280 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm. It is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifts and power is sent to the rear wheels. The car weighs just 1.4 tons. The performance figures will be similar to the other Ageras. The 0-100 kmph acceleration time is less than 2.5 seconds while 200 kmph is dealt in less than 8 seconds and 300 kmph in around 12 seconds. Top speed will be around 440 kmph mark.
