New Hero Maestro Edge Scooter To Rival Honda Activa 3G

Hero has apparently decided not to ditch the Maestro nameplate though it hasn’t proved to be very successful.

nameplate though it hasn’t proved to be very successful. The model that was showcased at Delhi Auto Expo as Hero Dash last year, which was a near-production concept, was expected to roll out onto the streets the very same year under the same nameplate, as Hero is arguably in need of a brand refurbishment in the scooter segment. Instead, despite the massive makeover in styling department, the upcoming scooter model gets slapped with an “EDGE” suffix to the age-old Hero Maestro monicker, and is waiting for its grand entry on the dias.

New Hero Maestro Edge scooter has been spotted at dealership premises, indicating imminent launch. If not this month (August, 2015), the new Maestro variant should debut within this festive season.

The sportier version of Hero Maestrois in absolute disparity with the regular model in terms of looks, as the former is equipped with sizeable angular headlamps, sharp and contrasting visor, edgy front cowl, chiselled-looking front apron with integrated turn indicators, sleek and muscular body panels, silver grab handle, wide tail lamp cluster and trendy exhaust can.

Built with what can be described as masculine elements, Hero Maestro Edge scooter would compete with models such as Honda Activa 3G, Honda Aviator, Honda Dio, Mahindra Gusto and the like.

In terms of features, new Hero Maestro Edge scooter receives telescopic front fork, stylish instrument cluster featuring analog speedometer and digital odometer, lockable front utility box, Integrated Braking System, tubeless tyres, and the like. Seats are wide suggesting superior comfort, which should open up to provide ample space, probably enough to store a full face helmet.

Probably powered by a new 110 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, developed in-house for the first time, with help from its technical partner – AVL Austria, the motor is expected to churn out around 8 PS max power and 8.5 Nm peak torque. Chances are good that the sportier Hero Dash variant would claim around 60 kmpl mileage.
