The Skoda Superb was once again spotted testing in Mumbai in the Laurin & Klement trim level. It is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2016 and will take on cars like the Toyota Camry.
The Skoda Superb in its 1st generation was launched in India more than a decade ago and did not do as well as the company would have expected. The 2nd generation car came in and blew our expectations completely and became the benchmark in its segment for interior comfort, space and the overall luxury factor. The car has been in the market for quite some time now and it was last year that the third generation car was launched globally. India will be soon getting this car and some keen auto enthusiasts have snapped the car while testing in its range topping Laurin & Klement avatar.
The car that was spotted testing was completely undisguised and gave a rough idea about the interiors. L&K variants are known to be packed with luxury features and the Superb will be no different. The car will get features like heated seats, power-adjustable front seat with memory and lumbar support, triple-zone climate control, 8-inch Smartlink infotainment system and a CANTON audio system. It will also get 18-inch alloy wheels and adaptive dampers with 3 driving modes.
The 2016 Skoda Superb will be offered with 2 engine options – a 1.8-litre TSI petrol that develops 180PS of power and 250Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that churns out 190PS of max power and 400Nm of torque. The petrol is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox while the diesel gets a 6-speed DSG automatic. Its main rival the Toyota Camry was recently launched with a hybrid powertrain and has been racking up good sales numbers for the company. The 2016 Skoda Superb is expected to be priced in between Rs. 25 lakh and Rs. 30 lakh ex-showroom.
