Mercedes Benz India launched the 9th variant of the S-Class flagship sedan, the S400 in India at a price of INR 1.31 crore (ex-showroom).

Mercedes BenzS400 is a powered by a 3-litre, V6 petrol engine that produces 333 hp and a massive 480 Nm of peak torque. The engine is motorized by the 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission from Mercedes-Benz. This car will be locally produced at the Chakan plant near Pune and join its elder sibling S500 on the assembly line.
The S-Classis high on luxury. The interior features leather upholstery, with the centre console, seats and door panels in leather. Burmester 3D surround sound system with 24 speakers, nine tweeters integrated in the instrument panels, doors, parcel shelf and roof lining along with the 24 channel amplifier with an output of 1520 watts. There is a choice of 7 different colours and 5 dimming levels are available for the lighting mood desired.
The S400 provides the luxury of hot stone massage which can last for 12-15 minutes at a time. Occupants can choose from two intensities – low and high, and the seat backrest comes with a massage mat with 14 air chambers which can be inflated or deflated via fast responding solenoid valves.
The safety features include 8 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), PRE-SAFE, Dynamic cornering control system, Adaptive Brake with HOLD Function, Brake Assist, ASR Hill Start Assist, 360 Degree Surround View Camera and an Active Park Assist.
