In 2015, Audi launched the A3 cabriolet in India and it became the cheapest four-seater convertible on sale in the country. At the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, the German company showcased a more sporty version of the cabriolet, the Audi S3 Cabriolet. Just like the regular car, it is a soft top convertible.

As expected, the S3 receives cosmetic changes over the regular A3 Cabriolet. It gets an aluminium finish on the ORVMs, redesigned front and rear bumpers, xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights. On the inside, it comes equipped with a flat-bottomed three-spoke wheel, grey dials with white needles, S embossed front seats, a boost gauge integrated into the instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, heated seats, Bluetooth connectivity and a 5.8-inch colour display.

Most of the upgrades on the car are performance upgrades. The S3 Cabriolet is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 296 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 6-speed dual clutch S-Tronic automatic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels via the German company’s Quattro system. The cabriolet comes equipped with paddle shifters, launch control, adaptive magnetic dampers, disc brakes, S sport suspension, a re-tuned electronic stability control system, which applies gentle braking to the inside front wheels and Audi’s Drive Select system which can be used to toggle between modes. The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.

It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 litre four cylinder engine producing nearly 300 bhp

It is unclear if the S3 Cabriolet will be launched in India. Considering the success of the regular car, there is a possibility that it might happen. The S3 competes with the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG.
