On the inside, the pickup will be as luxurious as other Mercedes-Benz cars. It will get a leather and wood trim, a floating tablet-like central screen and the latest active safety and driver assistance systems. To handle rugged terrain, the pick-up will get some tough plastics as well.
The new Mercedes-Benz pickup truck is expected to be largely based on the Nissan Navara pickup truck. While the Nissan is powered by a 2.3-litre diesel engine, the Mercedes will get four-cylinder and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. A manual transmission and an automatic transmission will be available with power being sent to all four wheels via the German company’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. A petrol-engined hybrid variant can also be expected. Could we see a bonkers AMG powered pickup truck at a later stage? We certainly are hopeful.
The new Mercedes-Benz pickup truck will be targeting truck buyers who want car-like features. It will debut as a concept during the Paris Motor Show later this. Although the name has not been confirmed, the X-Class will be sold through van dealerships and will go on sale by the end of 2017.
