The Volvo V90 Estate or Station Wagon has been revealed to the world. The V90 is based on an all new modular platform called the SPA platform which also underpins the Volvo XC90 and S90.

Volvo estates have been quite iconic and have been known for their practicality and safety. Volvo V90 is an estate based on the S90 sedan that was revealed late last year. It will be powered by similar engines as the sedan and will also get a range topping plug-in hybrid variant for the first time. The new V90 delivers cutting-edge safety tech such as Pilot Assist semi-autonomous drive technology, the most advanced standard safety package on the market, including Large Animal Detection and Run-off Road Mitigation, and class-leading connectivity, including smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay. Interiors too will bear the same design theme with a large central touchscreen and use of high quality materials.

The sophisticated ambience of our new Volvo interiors is combined with a great cargo space, providing the right kind of functionality whether through connectivity or cargo and storage solutions.” Dr. Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Volvo Cars, said, “We have a very strong offer in the V90. Our PowerPulse technology is designed to deliver a distinct performance boost to our diesel engine, while the T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid will deliver around 410BHP and a pure electric range of around 31 miles.”

For the 2014 financial year, Volvo Car Group recorded an operating profit of 2,252 MSEK (Rs. 1,820 crore). Revenue over the period amounted to 129,959 MSEK (Rs. 1,05,000 crore). For the full year 2015, global sales reached a record 5,03,127 cars, an increase of 8 percent over 2014.
