Audi seems to be taking the station wagon segment seriously in India.
Audi seems to be taking the station wagon segment seriously in India. After launching the RS6 Avant, they showcased the A6 Allroad Quattro at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. It is a crossover based on the A6 Avant.
The Allroad Quattro is based on the A6 Avant
The Allroad Quattro was initially released for the second generation of the Audi A6. The A6 is currently in its fourth generation and the Allroad Quattro, based on the latest A6 was launched at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It is more of an all-terrain vehicle than the regular A6. It gets 1,100 new upgrades over the regular car. These include cosmetic changes like new bumpers, roof rails and aluminum skid plates that give it an aggressive appearance.
Powering the car are two engines. They are a 3.0 litre TFSI petrol engine producing 310 PS and a 3.0 litre TDI diesel engine in three states of tune (204 PS, 245 PS and 313 PS). The transmission options available are a manual and an automatic and power is sent to all four wheels. The manual transmission equipped vehicle also gets a low-range gearbox.
This is the first car to complete Land Rover’s off-road test
The car comes with adjustable air suspension that car raise the ground clearance to 208 mm for off-roading or reduce it to 142 mm with stiffened dampers and springs for a sporty drive. The A6 Allroad Quattro is the first car-like vehicle to complete Land Rover’s official off-road test course. That is a pretty impressive achievement and shows us what this vehicle is capable of.
Even though the Allroad Quattro was shown at the Auto Expo, it is unclear if Audi has any plans of launching it here.
