Audi has yet again teased its smallest SUV, the Q2, this time in a video. This is the third time the German luxury car maker has teased this new SUV which all set for a 2016 Geneva Motor Show launch.
So, Audi is acting like a naughty teenager and has been teasing the Q2 SUV time and again. It will share its design language with the flagship Q7 SUV and will have all luxury features you expect from an Audi. The teaser video above shows the Audi Q2 on an offroad trail and passing through it with ease. Audi might have just told us that their smallest offering will come with the iconic Quattro 4-wheel drive system. This system wont be offered as standard and lower variants could be offered with a 2-wheel drive layout.
The Audi Q2 is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform but will be powered by a new range of 3- and 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines from the Audi A1 which is based on a older generation platform. Gearbox options will be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual clutch automatic. On the insides, the Audi Q2 is expected to be on par with the latest generation of Audi with the Virtual Cockpit which is nothing but a high resolution screen that does the same and more as the traditional needles and an updated MMI interface. The car could also get an optional high end speaker system too.
The Audi Q2 will create a new segment for itself below the Q3, with its only competitors being in the form Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1 which is a segment above. Prices for the Audi Q2 are expected to be in the range of Rs. 25 lakhs and Rs. 30 lakhs when launched in India. Audi would be definitely eyeing the Indian market with this car as this could bring the entry point to owning a Audi SUV much lower.
