Prices for the next generation 2017 Hyundai Elantra have been revealed in North America. The base model will set you back by $17,985 (Rs. 12.15 lakh) which is around $1,500 (Rs. 1 lakh) less than its closest rival the Honda Civic.
The 2017 Hyundai Elantra was unveiled late last year and has been creating a buzz ever since. The Elantra in its previous generation found a good fan following due to its stylish looks and practicality. The next generation car seems to keep all the good attributes of the previous gen car with new features that make it even more luxurious. The car will be launched in three trim levels – SE, Limited and Eco. While the SE and Limited will be powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol motor, the Eco will get a downsized 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor that also features turbocharging for the first time. The base trims will be offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the top Eco trim will be offered only with a 7-speed dual clutch automatic.
The base Elantra SE with the automatic gearbox is priced at $18,985 (Rs. 12.85 lakh) but does not come with too many frills unless you opt for the Popular Equipment Package that adds features like a 7-inch Display Audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a rearview camera, and cruise control for $800 (Rs. 54,000/-). Another $1,300 (Rs. 88,000/-) can get you the Tech Package which provides LED running lights, blind spot detection, dual-zone climate control and heated front seats.
The mid-level Limited trim has been priced at $23,185 (Rs. 15.70 lakh) comes with standard features like leather seats and LED taillights. The Tech Package on this trim adds things like an 8-inch infotainment system with navigation, upgraded stereo and sunroof for $2,500 (Rs. 1.70 lakh) while an extra $1,900 (Rs. 1.28 lakh) will get you the Ultimate Package which bundles HID headlights, memory seats, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and smart cruise control. The prices of the top Eco trim have not been released as yet and we will have to wait for a while before the company rolls out this variant.
