Skoda has confirmed that there will be a replacement to the Yeti SUV and it is already being developed. The new SUV will get a traditional crossover look, a new engine range and more space on the inside. The new Yeti will be based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform and will share its DNA with the Seat Ateca and the Volkswagen Tiguan.
The new design of the SUV will take inspiration from the Vision S concept. It will get a muscular and aggressive look with squared wheel arches and LED headlights. The design language will also be used on other Skoda SUVs. On the inside, it will get a simple design which will concentrate on maximizing the space available. The cabin will be more practical with an increase in space for the passengers and an increase in boot space. The quality of materials used will also see an increase to offer a more upmarket feel. The SUV will get more safety equipments including an auto braking system and a parking camera.
The SUV will come out in 2018
Powering the SUV is a 1.0-litre, three cylinder petrol engine, a 1.6-litre diesel engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. A hybrid powertrain with a 1.4-litre petrol engine is also expected. The hybrid car will return around 53.1 kms to a litre of fuel. A dual clutch DSG automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive will be offered on certain variants.
The next generation of the Skoda Yeti is expected to be a little cheaper than the current model. It will arrive at showrooms only in 2018. A rugged Scout model and a sporty version of the SUV will follow later.
