After the successful launch of Honda CR-V facelift in US market, the car maker introduced the European version of the world’s best selling SUV.
in US market, the car maker introduced the European version of the world’s best selling SUV. The Euro-spec CR-V facelift is exactly same as the prototype which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October this year.
The front fascia is restyled to have the ‘Solid Wing’ face
The new CR-V has a redesigned front fascia and a subtly revised rear end, improving on the previous design to give the car the new ‘Solid Wing’ face. The crossover gets reworked wraparound headlamps that run into the grill. The new trapezoidal skid plate and sharp rectangular fog lamps give the car a contemporary look.
The Honda CR-V facelift for Europe gets a new 160 PS 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine mated to a 9-speed AT
There is no change in the profile while the rear fascia receives LED infused taillights and a horizontal chrome strip below the rear windshield. The rear bumper also gets a skid-plate, complementing the one upfront.
The body of this CR-V crossover is same as that of the US-spec version but with a different heart. Major change comes in the form of new efficient 1.6L i-DTEC engine in higher state of tune with lower CO2 footprint compared to outgoing the 2.2L i-DTEC engine.
The new engine produces 160 hp and 350 Nm which is better than its predecessor despite being smaller. Being a big car it’s good to hear that this one will be coming with all-wheel drive. The engine is mated to six-speed manual or a new nine-speed automatic transmission which is the secret behind the 20% lower CO2 footprint compared to earlier five-speed automatic. On the lower side of the range, CR-V will still continue with the 120 hp 1.6L i-DTEC and 155 hp 2L i-VTEC gasoline engines in FWD configurations. The engines now comply with Euro-6 emission norms.
One of the “must look” changes in CR-V is in interior which now features Honda Connect, the company’s new app driven 7-inch infotainment system which is standard across the range. This package contains impressive features like satellite navigation, audio display, AM/FM/DAB and internet radio, phone interface, Bluetooth connectivity, vehicle information, rear-view parking camera with dynamic guidelines and so on.

The Honda CR-V facelift would reach the European showrooms by March 2015. The refreshed SUV would be launched in India next year where it is expected to continue to be a petrol-only model.
