Volvo has launched a online configurator for the Volvo S90 flagship sedan in the US to help its customers choose from a wide range of personalisation options.
The Volvo S90 is already getting tremendous response globally and is all set for an official launch. The Swedish car manufacturer has now launched an exclusive configurator for its flagship sedan by which customers will be able to select from a wide range of add-ons. The S90 will be available with a choice of nine different exterior color options as well as a range of wheel designs and eight interior color combinations. Other standard features include a sunroof, Apple CarPlay and ventilated front seats while a Bowers & Wilkins sound system can be selected as can a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats and even heated windshield washer nozzles as optional extras.
Initially, the Volvo S90 will be available in two trim levels – T5 and T6. The T5 trim level will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor that develops 250BHP while on the T6 trim the same engine will develop 315-horses thanks to both turbocharging and supercharging. The range topping T8 plug-in hybrid will be launched at a later stage. In India the car is expected to come with only diesel power which means it will have the same motor as the XC90 that is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit that develops 225BHP.
Some of the standout features on the Volvo S90 are the semi autonomous drive mode than is capable of steering the vehicle all by its own at speeds up to 80MPH or 130Km/hr. Being a Volvo the car comes with all kinds of active and passive safety features. The 2016 Volvo S90 will compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series and the Audi A6. We expect the car to land on Indian soil soon after the international launch which is scheduled somewhere in the 1st quarter of 2016.
