New Porsche 911 GT2 RS Spotted Testing In The Snow

The new Porsche 911 991 GT2 RS has been spotted testing in the snow.

The new Porsche 911 991 GT2 RS has been spotted testing in the snow. Earlier Porsche GT boss, Andreas Preuninger confirmed that the German company would build a rear-wheel drive turbocharged GT2 RS.“We’ve always had a GT car with a turbo; that’s a different customer, a different line,” he said. “The ‘kick in the butt’ that you get with a turbocharged engine; this has some sexiness as well. We wouldn’t want to ditch that model so it might be we’re thinking of working on something like that”.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS will be a rear-wheel drive car with a turbocharged engine

The chassis, power steering set-up and suspension components will be taken from the GT3 RS. Powering the sports car will be a twin-turbo 3.8-litre flat six engine that could produce around 700 bhp. This could make it the most powerful 911 ever. The engine will be paired to a returned dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission and power will be sent to the rear wheels. The sports car also gets a new exhaust system.

Porsche might offer the manual transmission from the 911 R to the GT3. But this gearbox has been ruled out for the GT3 RS and the GT2 RS. A PDK-equipped GT3 RS could become faster than a manual gearbox equipped GT2 RS or GT3 RS. This is unacceptable for Porsche as the RS cars should be the fastest on the track.

With around 700 bhp, it could be the most powerful 911 ever

Just like the 997 GT2 RS, the 991 GT2 RS could come late in the life cycle of the sports car. This means that a launch could happen only in 2018. It’s a shame that we have to wait a long time for this marvel but Porsche is keeping the best for the last.
