What would your answer be if asked which is the most iconic Porsche model of all time? The answer would be the 911 each and every time. The car has not only won loads of accolades in championship racing around the world, but comes with a heritage that only a few cars on this planet can boast off. Some might complain about the looks which have not changed much compared to the earlier generation but this new car is based on an all new platform. Porsche launched the latest ‘991’ in 2012 and has now given the 911 Turbo and Turbo S a major update with even more power.
The Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S each get a 20PS bump in power output. The 911 Turbo now develops 540PS that helps it breach the 100Km/hr mark in 3 seconds flat, while the 911 Turbo S now develops 580PS and has a improved 0-100Km/hr time of 2.9 seconds. Each have a top speed of 320Km/hr and 330Km/hr respectively. Also with more power these two cars are more frugal than ever with a combined fuel efficiency figure of 9.1 litres/100Kms (11Km/L).
The new 911s get a new feature called as Dynamic Boost designed to shorten the time it takes for a turbo engine to react to throttle load alternations, negating the lag almost completely. The updated car is benefited by a 360mm steering wheel with 4 modes on it namely Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. Normal can be called as the Family Mode, the Sport Plus the most vicious while the Individual lets you play around with the settings manually.
