It has been almost 5 years since Honda launched its smallest hatchback the Brio in India. The car racked up good sales initially but the pricing meant that the Brio never really set the sales charts on fire for Honda. The Japanese carmaker is hence planning a makeover for the Brio hatchback which might come to India this year. The car was spotted in Indonesia with a reworked front fascia with a new bumper and grille. The chrome bar has given way to a piano black finished element. There are also new blade design alloy wheels which point out that the updated Brio could get a RS variant just like the Mobilio MPV.

The Honda Brio is powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that develops 89BHP of max power. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. So there wont possibly be any changes to the drivetrain options. The interiors of the car were not snapped but expect a few changes on the insides too. The car could get a redesigned instrument cluster and optional AVN package that adds features like Bluetooth, DVD player and a Navigation system to the car.

The Honda Brio competes with cars like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo and Hyundai Grand i10. The next generation model is expected to arrive in late 2017 so until then the company will be hoping to revive sales of its hatchback with this update. The Honda Brio facelift wont be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and will be only revealed later this year. As for the Auto Expo, Honda will be showcasing the all new Honda BR-V compact SUVand the 2016 Honda Accord. Stay tuned to the ICB network to get all the news from the upcoming 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
