Maruti Suzuki India sought success with its premium hatch ‘Baleno’ and has got exactly what it wanted. Maruti Baleno has received over 21,000 bookings in just days.

The company sells Baleno exclusively through the NEXA showrooms and is been running an introductory offer on pricing which will go up after the festive season. Maruti Suzuki saw 56,000 people visit NEXA showrooms since the Baleno launch.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine developing 83bhp and 115Nm of torque, and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine will churn out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission while the petrol engine is also available with CVT automatic gearbox.The diesel claims 27.39 km/l whereas the petrol MT and CVT are rated at 21.4 km/l.

The Baleno measures 3,995mm in length, 1,745mm in width and 1,500mm in height with a wheel base of 2,520mm. The car features 339-litres of boot space and 37-litres of fuel capacity. The petrol variants come with the weight in the range of 860-910kg and the diesel variants from 960-985kg.The car comes with design philosophy that the manufacturer calls ‘Liquid Flow’, which is obviously the answer to the ‘Fluidic’ design theme of Hyundai i20 Elite. All variants of the Baleno get ABS, EBD and dual front airbags as standard.

India is the first country to get the Baleno. European countries will get the Baleno in spring next year. India is manufacturing hub, with exports planned for more than 100 countries worldwide. This is the first instance of a  car manufactured in India being exported to Japan. Apart from Japan, other countries where the Baleno will be sold include Denmark and Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium. In South America, it will be sold in Chile, Paraguay and Colombia.

Sigma – Rs. 4.99 lakh

Delta – Rs. 5.71 lakh

Zeta – Rs. 6.31 lakh

Alpha – Rs. 7.01 lakh

Delta CVT – Rs. 6.76 lakh

Diesel variants:

Sigma – Rs. 6.16 lakh

Delta – Rs 6.81 lakh

Zeta – Rs. 7.41 lakh

Alpha – Rs. 8.11 lakh

Maruti Suzuki Baleno has successfully managed to crack the premium hatchback market.
