Land Rover displayed the first SVR product, the Range Rover Sport SVR, at the Auto Expo in Delhi.
The Sport SVR is based on the Range Rover Sport and to set it apart from the regular car, it some exterior upgrades including acoustic laminated front windscreen, laminated front doors, toughened rear door, rain sensing windscreen wipers, heated rear window, rear fog lamps, follow-me-home lighting, heated windscreen and quad exhaust pipes.
On the inside, you get ambient lighting, SVR sports seats which are power adjustable and heated, a TFT virtual instrument panel and an 8-inch touch screen system that can be used to control the Bluetooth and audio system with CD player, AUX and USB. Optional features include sliding sunroof panoramic, premium metallic paint, R S Carbon Fibre Engine Cover, Leather steering wheel with carbon vezel, Meridian Signature Reference Audio system with 23 speakers and TV Tuner.
The Range Rover Sport SVR is powered by a 5.0 litre V8 supercharged petrol engine producing 503 bhp and 680 Nm of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels. The SUV accelerates from a standstill to a 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds and it goes on to a top speed of 260 kmph. The SUV returns 7.81 kms to a litre of fuel. Carbon dioxide emissions 298 g/km.
For improving the handling characteristics of the SUV, it gets Four Corner Air Suspension (FCAS), torque vectoring, adaptive dynamics and an active sports exhaust system. It also gets a racing inspired locking wheel nuts.
A performance oriented SUV from Land Rover does not mean it will not be capable off-road. It is as capable as the other Land Rovers. For off-roading, it gets Hill Decent Control (HDC), a transfer box, Terrain Response 2, Gradient Acceleration Control (GAC) and Gradient Release Control (GRC).
For safety, the SUV gets Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), ABS, EBD, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Electronic Traction Control (ETC), front and rear parking sensors, surround camera system and Roll Stability Control (RSC).
The Range Rover Sport has been priced at INR 2.12 crores (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
