Guenter Butschek is the New CEO & MD of Tata Motors

Tata Motors has appointed Mr.

Tata Motors has appointed Mr. Guenter Butschek as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the company. His main responsibility will be to lead all operations of Tata Motors in India and in international markets including South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and South Africa.

Mr. Butschek joins Tata Motors after his last assignment at Airbus Group where he served as Chief Operating Officer at Airbus and Member of the Group Executive Committee. Prior to Airbus, he worked at Daimler AG for more than 25 years in international automotive management, leading functions like production, industrialization and procurement. The last role he held was President and Chief Executive Officer of Beijing Benz Automotive Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Daimler AG and Beijing Automotive Industrial Holding in Beijing, China. Mr. Butschek graduated in Business Administration and Economics with a diploma from the University of Cooperative Education Stuttgart, Germany. He brings broad functional and general management skills and wide international experience to his new role at Tata Motors.

I am confident that Mr Butschek’s ability to lead high performing teams will enable our company to achieve sustainable, profitable growth.” Guenter Butschek will join Tata Motors by the 15th of February, 2016.

The announcement comes before the launch of the all important Tata Zica that is all set to launch later this month or early next month. It is powered by a new set of 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines that develop 85PS and 70PS respectively. Both are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and will deliver class leading fuel economy. The Tata Zica will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai i10 in the Indian market.
