Mahindra Bolero outsells Hyundai Creta in October

Mahindra Bolero was the undisputed king of Indian market when it came to sales figures. The company sold a lot of Bolero’s without any real publicity until Hyundai Creta came and snatched away the number one position. Selling more than 7,000 units each month since its launch, Creta became the chart topper.

The reason for strong sales of the old warhorse is the strong rural network and the popularity it enjoys in the hinterland. The Mahindra brand is a trusted name and the festive season bookings too may have helped the Bolero gain such high numbers.

In couple of months since the Hyundai Creta launch,  Mahindra managed to sell only 4,804 units in August and 5,585 units of  Bolero in September, whereas Hyundai sold 7,437 units of Creta in August and 7,320 units in September 2015. With the Creta selling in such high numbers, it was expected that the sales of Bolero will go down, but the reverse happened.  Even the newest offering from Mahindra stable, TUV3oo racked up significant numbers, 4551 to be specific.

Speaking on the auto sales performance for October 2015, Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), M&M Ltd. said, “The advent of the festive season has provided the much needed fillip for the auto industry especially on the back of the new launches of most manufacturers which has received an encouraging response. With the drop in interest rates and the fuel prices remaining benign, we expect the industry to maintain a good growth momentum going forward. At Mahindra we are happy with our performance during October 2015, which has witnessed a positive growth of 20% backed by excellent response garnered from the recently launched TUV300 as well as other brands such as XUV500, Scorpio, Bolero and pickups. We are quite hopeful of this positive growth momentum continuing for the rest of the year.”
