Hosur based TVS Motor company has just launched a slew of models in the past one year to consolidate it’s position as a two wheeler manufacturer to reckon with. To further bolster it’s position, it now plans to take the challenge to Bajaj, Hero Honda and Yamaha in the performance segment. For this, it is all set to launch a 200cc performance motorcycle. Though TVS has been tight-lipped about the name of the model, we anticipate it to be a big bore version of the Apache RTR180. For quite some time now, TVS has been racing 200cc versions of the Apache at Sriperumbudur and the Kari Speedway.  So, it would be safe to expect a 200cc Apache with a host of goodies to draw buyers away from the Pulsar 220, R15 and the Karizma ZMR.

Knowing TVS’s rich racing heritage, the flagship Apache RTR200 could output almost 20 Bhp at the crank with goodies like ABS and fuel injection to sweeten the deal. Handling too, should be sharp enough as with all the Apache motorcycles. Remember, TVS has for long been mulling of equipping it’s flagship, the Apache, with ABS. While this means exciting times ahead for Indian motorcycle enthusiasts, we are more than a little deflated to see TVS play the incremental game, a-la-Bajaj. What we were hoping was for a homegrown multi cylinder challenger to the recently launched Kawasaki Ninja 250. Looks like our wait has extended quite a bit.
