The Volvo S60 Cross Country has been launched in India at INR 38.9 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
Based on the top-end variant of the S60 sedan, it is a crossover sedan which made its global debut at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show and comes with all-wheel drive as standard and a ground clearance of 201 mm, which is 65 mm more than the standard car. Powering the vehicle is a detuned version of the same engine that powers the regular car. The 2.4-litre, five-cylinder diesel engine produces 189 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels.

This being the top end model, it comes loaded with equipment. It gets electric front seats, satellite navigation, Interior Movement Sensor (IMS), personal car communicator with keyless drive, Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), home safe lighting and water repellent front side windows. On the safety front, it gets ABS, EBD, EBA (Electronic Brake Assist), front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, front, side and curtain airbags, DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control), Advanced Stability Control, a laser assisted autonomous braking from speeds up to 50kph, hill descent control, hill start assist and whiplash protection for the front seats.
Just like any Volvo, the car gets the latest in safety features
The Volvo S60 Cross Country is offered in five colours – Rich Java, Osmium Grey, Crystal White, Bright Silver and Onyx Black. In India, it does not have any direct competition. Globally, it competes with the Audi A6 Allroad Quattro, which was showcased at the Auto Expo in Delhi last month. The Volvo S60 sedan competes with the Audi A6, Jaguar XF, BMW 5-series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
