Top 5 supercars at Geneva Motor Show

Geneva Motor Show is one of the best places to see supercars in flesh.

Geneva Motor Show is one of the best places to see supercars in flesh. Here we list the top 5 cars according to me.

Number 1: Koenigsegg Regera

I have been a long time admirer of Cristian von Koenigsegg for the kind of intricate details he puts on his cars and the efforts they put in to develop all technologies in house to make these incredible machines. The Koenigsegg Regeradebuted at the Geneva Motor Show with the over 3000 changes compared to the concept car shown last year. This incredible machine is powered by Biturbo 5.0-liter V8 engine it will generate over 1500 hp and over 2000 Newton metre of torque. This car does not have a traditional transmission system, but uses a patent pending Drive Direct system, wherein the Regera is powered by the rear-wheel electric motors upon initial acceleration. As speed increases, the electric motor on the crank and the internal combustion engine kicks in, adding its muscle to the rear wheel motors which is an 800 volt 4.5kWh battery pack. Talking about the speeds,  100 kilometers per hour takes 2.8 seconds, 200 kmph comes in 6.6 seconds and 300 kmph as it takes just 10.9 seconds in comparison to  the Bugatti’s 13.5 seconds.

Number 2: Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti brought in the successor to Veyron in the form of Chironwith some mighty capabilities made possible with some insane engineering skills. The Chiron is powered by a massive 8.0-litre W16 engine which  a massive 1,479 bhp at 6,750 rpm and 1,600 Nm of torque. It is quicker of the blocks compared to the Regera but runs out of breath when it comes to reaching the finish line at 300 kmph. It is a whole 2.7 seconds slower compared to its Swedish compatriot. That is why I have rated the Regera higher than Chiron. Both, Regera and Chiron come at almost identical value, $1.9 million but Regera will be more exclusive as only 80 Regera’s will ever be built compared to 500 Bugatti’s.

Number 3: Porsche 911R

Another limited edition model added to the list is the Porsche 911R which is a purist’s delight. “Real men drive stick” was a quote back in the day but with automatic transmission being at their slickest best, it is a question to be taken seriously. Nevertheless, 911R will be one hell of a car from a drivers point of view, making ‘car-gasms’ a reality. Available only in a 6-speed manual, it is powered by 4.0-litre flat six which punches out 493bhp at 8250rpm and 460 Newton metre of torque at 6250 rpm and does a 0-100 kmph sprint in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of over 320 kmph. But this one is not really going to be about the top speed as much as it is going to be about those controlled slides. Only 991 specimens of the most track-focused road-legal Porsche will be made and each one will cost upwards of £136,901.

Number 4: Aston Martin DB11

It is Operational Officer 7’s brand of choice. Need we say more? The makers of uber cool cars is in the process of overhauling its lineup and DB11is their first design which speaks that design language. I think it is a pretty dope looking car with aesthetic grace and poise of a contemporary dancer. Under the hood is a all new 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 that develops 600BHP and 700Nm of torque, making DB11 the most powerful production DB model ever. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic ZF transmission and it will accelerate from rest to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 320 kmph. Quite frankly, this car is not about the number but the cool quotient associated with ‘Aston Martin’ as a brand. If you got it, flaunt it!! Don’t ya??

Number 5: Lamborghini Centenario

Lamborghini makes cars that look outrageous, but this one left me bewildered. Does it look one of the better looking Lambo’s out there? After much thought, I don’t think so. Sure, it is the most powerful Lamborghini ever and the Italians have thrown in everything they had as this one as it is associated with none other than their founders, Ferruccio Lamborghini. But this is nowhere near the best which according to me is the psychotic Lamborghini Veneno and to an extent the Sesto Elemento. Centenariogives you the bragging rights of owning the most powerful Lamborghini to date and only for this reason, it makes the top 5 list.
